Guillermo Oropez, Head Pro at the West Side Tennis Club in FOREST HILLS, NY, is formerly world-ranked in singles and doubles, has been a USPTA certified teaching pro since 1985. Guillermo is a USTA/CTC coach and USTA schools clinician. He has served as Vice President of the USPTA Long Island Division and is currently L.I. representative.

Guillermo competed in three U.S. Opens and one Wimbledon and in European and U.S. Grand Prix events, and he won several satellite tournaments.

Memorable matches include those against John McEnroe, Arthur Ashe, Illie Nastasie, Vitas Gerulaitis, John Lloyd, Fred Stolle and Barry MacKay. He attained a world ranking in the 100’s. Sectionally, he was ranked number three in singles and number one in doubles in the East. From 1992-1995, he participated in the International Club for the U.S. team against Canada.

Guillermo grew up in Texas and California . While in Northern California , Guillermo was ranked number five in USTA singles. He earned full tennis scholarships and played for the University of Mexico and the University of Nevada.

Guillermo served as Director of Tennis at several clubs in the region, including Shelter Rock Tennis Club, the largest privately-owned tennis club on Long Island, and The Cedarbrook Club in Old Brookville.
